Tandem France 2003: Autun

Autun is a small town in the centre of Burgundy. Autun was a Roman town founded by Augustus on a slanting site and substantial sections of Roman wall as well as two gates still exist.

The cathedral is a big romanesque building with an apse at the end, but with many gothic and later additions. There is a very fine tympanum over the entrance.
