Our tandem is a dark green Dawes Galaxy Twin built in 1993 and bought by us in 1999. It has 21 gears ranging from 22 to 100 inches.
Here are some photos of us with the tandem during our trip.
As you can see, we managed with two rear panniers (one each for clothes and other necessities), a handlebar bag (camera, phone, passports, maps and guides in current use) and a rear rack bag (waterproofs, tools and spare parts). Fortunately we didn't need many clothes because the weather was warm. Our experience with the tandem was generally very good. The page on maintenance tells a little more about the exceptions!
