GPS navigation experiencesMy Garmin Edge 305 has been replaced by an Edge 605. Here is a report on its use on our most recent tandem tour (shown on the left using track logs produced by the GPS). We used tweaked Google Maps walking directions for route finding, not the GPS's built in algorithm. Details here. My conclusion: This was the first of the 20 or so cycle tours we have completed on which we never lost our way nor had to stop to work out where we were. The Garmin Edge 605 deserves a large chunk of credit for this - it's a very well engineered device with impressive GPS positioning performance. |
